November 2011 kicks off Design House IDOLI’s second winter season under the theme of LUX ARCTICA. The exhibition theme associated with light and lighting is still so ideal for exploring Lapland’s winter, that we will continue it until the summer of 2012.
During the winter months, all the magnificent visiting Idols can be seen alongside our permanent resident Idols. There will be a number of novelties: art, designer lamps, and other objects of use.
ARTEK presents a whole new lamp series named “WHITE”’. The WHITE line includes four different types of lamps, designed for different purposes. The recognisable and unifying factor in all of the lamps is the boldly minimalist design. With his white birch plywood lamps, designer Ville Kokkonen has reached the purest essence of light.
SAAS Instruments has brought to the exhibition a number of pioneering designer lamps, where movement is a surprising addition to the form. The hypnotic ”MEDUSA” from Mikko Paakkanen and the ”SENSE” Light Swing from Alexander Lervik have garnered plenty of international attention. SAAS are the lighting experts of our LUX ARCTICA exhibition and have engineered the lighting of the glass pieces and the ambiance lighting of Design House IDOLI.
The Exhibition breaks new ground with Finnish “DESIGN COSMETICS”. “KIDE” mineral cosmetics have combined the purest minerals (including diamonds) and Finnish eco-design for the first time in the history of cosmetics. Cooperation between Design agency Musuta and carpenter Kari Virtanen has resulted in breathtakingly beautiful, luxurious, and ecological wooden packaging made of Finnish birch. These gorgeous looks and products consist of the purest natural minerals, and the vital skin care elements meet all of a modern woman’s hopes for a new era of beauty care products. The warm wood and soft feel of the perfectly shaped box, and the dim glow of the mineral make-up on the skin, provide a long-lasting sense of well being. A refreshing alternative to the cosmetics industry’s marketing, packaging, and additives.
